Hi! My name is Averi Russell, the founder of The Balloon Diva.

Many people have asked, "How did you start twisting balloons?"

OUR STORY

In the spring of 2010, while in a bookstore, I found a book about balloon twisting. My daughter was in 2nd Grade, at the time, and I thought, Wow... this would be a fun activity for summer vacation! I purchased the book, took it home, and placed it on the bookcase, where it sat for several weeks.

The end of school was approaching. My daughter and I were brainstorming about fun things to do for her last day of school. I glanced at the bookcase, and there it was... the balloon twisting book, just waiting for us to give it a go. I purchased a pack of twisting balloons and we began inflating and trying to twist balloon animals. After several attempts, we created our first balloon dogs. We were so excited!

On the last day of school, my daughter was so proud as she shared her twisted creations with her friends. The feeling was mutual. As I watched, I noticed... Everyone was smiling! Yes, even the adults. I was amazed! How could a balloon create so much happiness? This warm fuzzy feeling had me hooked. I had to learn more and share more. Balloon twisting became my passion. I practiced hours at a time, transforming straight balloons into animals, flowers, toys, etc. It was so much fun!

In August of 2010, I made it official, turning my hobby and love of balloons, into a business, and started The Balloon Diva.

Our family owned business has evolved and grown. We have been trained by the best in the balloon industry, and believe in continuing education by attending classes and conventions. My daughter, Li, currently works behind the scenes and is our graphic design artist for our balloon delivery service. My son, Jai, is a balloon twister and can often be seen making balloon deliveries, installing Balloon Decor, and Balloon Yard Art Displays.

WHAT WE DO

We deliver Balloon Bouquets, Balloon Columns, Balloon Arches, Balloon Walls, Twisted Balloon Animals & Sculptures, and more, for Birthdays, Children's Parties, Special Occasions, and Events. Our service areas are Metairie and Kenner, and New Orleans, Louisiana.
